BioSpec Tissue Tearor II

Category Rotor-Stator Homogenizer
Manufacturer BioSpec
Country of manufacture Malaysia & Mexico
Overview

The new Tissue Tearor II is a rotor/stator type homogenizer designed for the rapid homogenization, disruption, and emulsification of both plant and animal samples in liquid volumes ranging from 1.0 to 1000 ml. The Tissue Tearor II is equipped with a digitally controlled variable-speed electric motor, ensuring precise operation for various applications.

Each Tissue Tearor II comes with a probe of your choice and includes both a storage stand and a operating stand for hands-free use. All Tissue Tearor II probes are interchangeable. For a 230 volt model, select model numbers ending in EUR.

When ordering select one of our four different probe sizes - 04, 07, XL, and 14. Unlike most competitive Brands of rotor-stator homogenizer, THE TISSUE-TEAROR COMES COMPLETE WITH BOTH THE HIGH-SPEED MOTOR AND ONE STAINLESS STEEL PROBE OF YOUR CHOICE. See chart below for probe selection guidance. Additional probes are available. All are interchangeable with the TT motor unit.

Features:

  • Use for tissue cell disruption, emulsification, and extreme mixing
  • Practical answer for small samples of 10 mg to a few grams
  • Easy to hold and lightweight for one-hand operation
  • Includes 2 stand options: One for storage and one for hands free operation
  • Inert to aggressive solutions.  Stainless steel probe easily cleaned when processing multiple samples
  • All probes are interchangeable and can be easily removed for autoclaving
  • Extreme high speed 35,000 rpm motor with variable speed control
  • Digitally Controlled, Variable Speed
  • 8,000 to 35,000 rpm motor with variable speed control
  • Powerful AC Motor: 160 watt; choose either 120 volt or 230 volt
  • Sample Volume Range: 1.0 to 1000 ml (probe dependent)

The Tissue Tearor II is equipped with an upgraded motor featuring digital speed control and producing 15% more power than the previous model.

Each Tissue Tearor II includes a choice of probe and two accompanying stands. The first stand is a stainless steel storage designed to securely hold the Tissue Tearor II between samples and after cleaning. This stand facilitates proper drainage of any residual fluids from the probe, thus preventing wicking of the fluid into the motor where corrosion can occur.

The second stand is designed for hands-free operation, allowing the Tissue Tearor II to remain in a fixed position while you introduce samples. This feature is particularly beneficial when processing multiple samples, significantly enhancing laboratory efficiency.

The Tissue Tearor II achieves complete homogenization of various tissue types—including muscle, liver, and breast tissue—within ten to thirty seconds. Unlike homogenizers utilizing other methods, the Tissue Tearor II generates minimal heat during the homogenization process.

Notably, the Tissue Tearor II is not effective for disrupting microorganisms. This characteristic can be advantageous when the objective is to homogenize tissue, soil, or waste samples for the recovery of viable bacteria or viruses for further analysis.

Use the table below to determine the appropriate probe size for your application.
