Scientists are continuously provided with more choices, more options, and more information about laboratory products and technologies, making choosing the right equipment ever more difficult. Laboratory Supply Network aims to bring simplicity to laboratory purchasing, aggregating many choices but also creating customized tools and providing more relevant information for each laboratory need.
We have carefully tailored our website and crafted functionality to support a seamless product discovery experience that enables scientists to find the products that are best suited for their particular needs and applications faster and more easily than ever before. Our goal is for you to be able to find and procure the best equipment for your situation more easily and confidently than ever.
Since 2013, Laboratory Supply Network has proudly helped many thousands of satisfied customers acquire tens of millions of dollars of critical laboratory equipment: from the world's top companies and America's leading research institutions, to primary schools, hobbyists, and companies of all sizes from a diverse range of industries.
Laboratory Supply Network was founded in April 2013 by Carlton Hoyt. Lou Farrell, and Doug Rogers. The idea for Laboratory Supply Network came from an analysis performed by Carlton on the price positioning of Amazon Supply (Amazon's initial foray into professional supplies) that he did for the blog of his life science marketing agency, BioBM. For that analysis, he had to look up the price for 10 very common laboratory products at 6 different suppliers. Even knowing the brands and part numbers, it took most of a work day to look up! Then and there, he knew there had to be a better way to find laboratory equipment.
Carlton surmised that most people shopping for laboratory equipment know what general type of laboratory equipment they need, but don't know what specific instrument would be best suited. Laboratory Supply Network therefore focused on filling that gap: connecting with people looking for a particular type of equipment and providing them the information necessary to determine what instrument would best meet their needs. This was initially done through creating individual ecommerce-enabled websites focusing on hyper-specific types of equipment. This enabled us to provide a more relevant product discovery view browsing and search as well as information which is more relevant to any particular scientists' purchasing journey. Our first laboratory equipment marketplace, Homogenizers.net, opened in mid-2013. Nine more lab equipment-specific websites followed before we made the decision to consolidate all of our 10 websites into one. The transition into a single Laboratory Supply Network website and closure of the old hyper-niche stores happened in 2025.
